BreizhJUG, 21 June 2018, Rennes, France

mutantsBenoit Baudry (KTH) will present several STAMP technologies at the BreizhJUG meet-up.

This talk introduces and illustrates the benefits of mutation testing to assess the quality of test suites. The intuition of this technique is simple: to determine if a test suite can detect bugs in a program, simply inject bugs in this program and check if the tests can detect them.

OW2con'18, 7-8 June 2018, Paris Châtillon

During the OW2 community annual conference, Daniele Gagliardi Engineering Group Technical Manager is talking about STAMP in the DevOps approach.

Daniele_Gagliardi_ENG.jpgTitle: STAMP or Test Amplification to DevTestOps Service

There is increasing talk of DevTestOps to emphasise that the DevOps promise to release software quickly should not be at the expense of its quality and ultimately of its value. STAMP (Software Testing AMPlification) project can provide you with several powerful test amplification features to be exploited at three different stages in a DevOps process:
    • automatic generation and execution of variants of existing test cases;
    • automatic generation of variants of existing test configurations;
    • automatic generation of test cases from available production logs in order to reproduce and fix any anomaly which may occur.
In this talk I will show you how to use this technology within your production processes in order to increase your software quality.

Benoit Baudry, Stamp Project coordinator and scientific leader (INRIA), showcases Stamp initial results, in a 35 minutes presentation for intermediate developers.

Title: Mutate and Test your Tests

Date: 25 Oct. 2017

Time: 11:15-11:50

DevOps puts a huge emphasis on test quality: while it promises to drastically reduce delivery cycles, hasty deployment entails the hazard of propagating a regression bug into production due to lack of sufficient testing. Statement coverage is the most popular metric to determine the adequacy of a test suite. Yet, this metric is known to be a poor indicator of a test suite's capacity to detect bugs.

This talk will introduce and illustrate the benefits of another metric for test suite quality: the mutation score. The intuition of this score is simple: to determine if a test suite can detect bugs in a program, simply inject bugs in this program and check if the tests can detect them.

In this talk, Benoit Baudry, Stamp Project coordinator and scientific leader (INRIA), covers :

  • the key principles of mutation analysis.
  • the Pit tool to perform mutation analysis on Java program to assess the quality of JUnit test suites.
  • the type of faults that Pit can inject and feedback it can provide about test suites
  • the Descartes tool, an extension of Pit to scale mutation analysis to large Java projects
  • concrete examples of weaknesses in the test suite that are missed by statement coverage and revealed by mutation analysis

Software testing amplification in DevOps

  • Speaker: Etienne Sauvage (OW2)
  • Tuesday, June 27, 2017
  • From 12:30 to 12:45
  • Orange Gardens, Paris Châtillon
  • Abstract: DevOps strongly encourages the development of test suites and test scripts that can run automatically at every build in order to detect regressions as soon as possible. However, the manual development of strong test suites is extremely time consuming. In this talk I will introduce test amplification, as an original solution to address this pain point. This approach consists in leveraging existing test cases and scripts in order to produce new ones through automatic transformation processes. I will present initial results about unit test amplification, from the STAMP project.
